TORRANCE, CA – The Cypress College diving team competed in the Southern California Regional Dive Championships this past weekend at El Camino College. Women's diver, and defending CCCAA State Champion on the 3-meter board, Alejandra Gomez, did not disappoint.
On Friday, Gomez repeated as Orange Empire Conference Champion and Southern California Regional Champion on the 1-meter board with 246.65 points, 23.65 points ahead of runner-up Sarah Duke from Saddleback College.
Gomez followed up her performance with another strong showing on Saturday, earning the Orange Empire Conference Title and Southern California Regional Runner-Up on the 3-meter board. After some early struggles, she kept her composure and moved up the leaderboard from fifth to second place with 228.70 total points.
The Connections Academy alumna, who set the Cypress College records on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards last season, is now setting her sights on the CCCAA State Championship meet held at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. The State Championship meet is scheduled to take place May 3-5.
