Janei-Ruby Fuamatu Earns Charger of the Week (Nov. 26-Dec. 2)

Freshman women's basketball standout, Janei-Ruby Fuamatu, earned her first career Charger of the Week Award during Thursday's practice. Fuamatu is the first member of the women's basketball team to earn the award this season.

The Carson High School alumna led the Chargers to a 2-1 week, resulting in a runner-up finish at the 35th Annual Lady Charger Classic at Cypress College. Cypress picked up wins over Grossmont and East Los Angeles, before falling to El Camino in the Championship game on Sunday.

Fuamatu was selected to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 20 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds, while shooting 47% from the field over the three-game span. She had a breakout game in the tournament semi-final against ELAC, pouring in a season-high 34 points before adding 17 more in Sunday's championship game.

Women's basketball will return to action on Friday, December 14 against Foothill to tip-off the Antelope Valley College Tournament.
