LOMPOC, CA – Matthew Rafter, Georgios Bris, and Dalton Davenport shot 152, 154, and 155, respectively, to guide the Chargers to second place in the season opening Santa Barbara Invitational held at La Purisima Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.
Cypress finished behind defending state champion Canyons, who captured the two-day, 14-team tournament with rounds of 375 and 368. The Chargers shot a second-best 383 and 389 to finish 29 strokes behind the Cougars. Cypress' 772-tournament total was nine strokes ahead of third place Ventura College.
Sophomore returner from Whittier Christian High School, Mattew Rafter, led the Chargers shooting a 75 on Sunday followed by a 77 on Monday. Fellow sophomore returner from Greece, Georgios Bris, shot the best round of the tournament for the Chargers with a 1-under par 71 on Monday.
Men's golf will return to action on Monday, February 5 when they host the Annual OEC Tee-Off Classic at Los Serranos Country Club.
